Survive In '09: Southwest 72-Hour Air Fare Sale
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Are you looking to get out of town in the next few months, but find that the airfares are too high?
Well you may just be in luck. As Your Money Team continues to help you Survive in '09, 3-On Your Side's Jim Donovan tells us about an airfare sale that has travelers scrambling.
Leave it to Southwest Airlines. They kicked off a 72 hour nationwide fare sale Tuesday. The cost to book some of the flights is as low as what other airlines charge you to check one bag!
One-way tickets are based on the length of your trip. Out of Philadelphia, you can travel up to 375 miles and only pay $25. That fare applies to cities like Manchester, Pittsburgh or Providence.
Travel between 375 and 549 miles, and the fares are $50 one-way. That includes places like Columbus and Detroit.
Fly between 550 and 999 miles, and your fares are $75 one-way. This includes Chicago, Denver, all Florida cities.
Lastly, for travel more than 1,000 miles, fares are $100 one-way. That includes Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, and San Antonio.
These fares are available to be booked through Thursday night and are good for travel between Dec. 2, 2009, and Dec. 16, 2009, or travel between Jan. 5, 2010, and Feb. 10, 2010.
The fares don't include the typical taxes and 9/11 security fees.
