Text Messaging Frequently Asked Questions

How do I vote?
To vote, simply watch CBS 3 and vote by sending a text message. Wireless subscribers with 2 way text messaging capabilities may text the promoted keyword to 66247 for promoted poll question. The wireless carriers participating are T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless (ATT), Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Cellular One (Dobson). If you vote using Text Messaging, you will be charged standard text messaging rates. Vote times may vary based on the particular poll taking place. Remember, you may vote as many times as you like.

Who can vote?
To vote by Text Messaging you must be a subscriber of a participating wireless carrier to text your vote. The wireless carriers participating are T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless (ATT), Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Cellular One (Dobson).

When can I vote?
There will be varying times that CBS 3 polls will be open. Please tune into CBS 3 for instructions on current polls being run and for vote times. If you vote via Text Messaging outside of the vote window, your vote will not count and you will receive no response.

How many times can I vote?
You can vote as many time as you like.

How much does it cost to vote?
Text Messaging, standard text messaging rates apply. This may vary depending on your carrier's Text Messaging Package.

Voting by Text Message on your wireless phone - What is Text Messaging/ SMS?
Text Messaging – sometimes known as SMS (short messaging service) - is a way of communicating short messages via your wireless phone. Most (but not all) handsets have this feature. For CBS 3 polls, use your wireless phone keypad to test the keyword and then send it to 66247. Standard text messaging rates apply. Remember, you can vote as many times as you like. The wireless carriers participating are T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless (ATT), Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Cellular One (Dobson).

How do I vote using Text Messaging?
Each CBS 3 poll question will be assigned a keyword. To vote by text, input the promoted keyword into a new text message on your cell phone and send this message to the 66247 short number. If done correctly, you will receive a message confirming your vote. Remember, you may vote has many time as you like. Votes sent outside of the voting window will be invalid, and you will not receive a confirmation message.

How do I know my vote has been counted?
Your message will have been counted if you are a Wireless subscriber from a participating carrier and text your vote during your valid voting window and receive your confirmation message. You will receive a confirmation for each valid vote that you cast.

How do I sign up for CBS 3 text alerts?
To sign up for CBS 3 alerts, just text cbs3 to 66247. You will get a confirmation message telling you that you have been signed up. The messages are standard rate.

How do I opt-out?
You can opt-out by sending a text message with the keyword STOP to 66247.
