DSU Grad's $10,000 Endowment Honors Slain Students

DOVER, Del. (AP) ― A Delaware State University alumnus has created a scholarship fund to honor three slain students.

Matthew Horace donated $10,000 to start an endowment fund, which will be used for scholarships for sociology and criminal justice majors. Horace is an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He created the endowment to honor Terrance Aeriel, Dashon Harvey and Iofemi Hightower. The three were about to start school at DSU when they were killed in a shooting in 2007 in Newark, N.J. Horace now heads the ATF division in Newark.

The announcement of the new scholarships was made last month at a university alumni event.
