Jury selection has begun in the trial of a Catholic priest arrested for jogging naked just before sunrise in Denver.
Jurors selected for the case won't be told that the 54-year-old Rev. Robert Whipkey is a priest. That's because a judge ruled last month that fact was irrelevant to the charge of indecent exposure.
Jurors are expected to begin hearing testimony Thursday.
Whipkey was arrested last year after an officer saw him jogging nude at a high school track in the town of Frederick. Whipkey has said he stripped naked because he sweats profusely if he wears clothing while exercising.
He told police he didn't think anyone would see him when he was spotted at 4:35 a.m.
Prosecutors said they will bring in evidence of previous incidents including neighbors seeing Whipkey naked and also an alleged occurrence where Whipkey walked around naked in a camp attended by children.
If convicted Whipkey could become a registered a sex offender.
