A woman in Long Beach, California, took police on a wild high-speed chase Friday morning, reportedly slowing down the vehicle at least once and exiting to taunt pursuing officers.
The driver, in a silver Scion, topped 100 mph and circled patrol vehicles on the freeway several times, reports CBS station KPIX-TV in Sacramento.
The chase, which went on for at least 30 minutes, apparently started in the Long Beach area, with the driver traveling on the 22 East, where light morning traffic allowed the driver to weave in and out of traffic.
The pursuit continued to the 55 and 241 freeway in Orange County before ending in the Rancho Santa Margarita area.
At one point, the driver wove circles around police, leaning out of her car, appearing to yell and gesticulate at officers. No other drivers were injured.
The driver was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute and assaulted a police officer responding to the dispute, according to a Southern California television station.
Female suspects in high-speed police chases are rare. Just hours earlier, around 12:30 a.m., another woman led police on a chase with a baby in the backseat of her car. That woman was shot to death by police. The baby was unharmed.
