Winter Weather Hits The Region
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
It's beginning to look a lot like winter as a messy mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain hit parts of the region Friday.
A wintry mess of snow, sleet and rain moved into most of the tri-state area midday.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties as northeastern Pennsylvania is expected to see the worst of the weather.
Winter Weather Advisories are also in effect for Bucks, Chester, Lancaster and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania along with Mercer County in New Jersey.
Mainly rain is expected in Philadelphia with a small amount of snow and sleet.
Forecasters predict the storm will move quickly through the area, turning mainly to rain overnight.
PennDOT activated crews in the Lehigh Valley in the early morning hours. Officials said drivers should use caution when driving on side streets as trucks will attend to major routes first.
