Reward Offered In Jenkintown Armored Car Heist

JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS 3) ― The FBI and Abington Township Police are searching for a group of suspects who robbed an armored car at gunpoint in Jenkintown. A $20,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this crime.

Authorities said light-blue or silver minivan pulled up next to an armored car as it was making a delivery to a TD Bank branch on Old York Road at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009.

Two suspects, one armed with a shotgun and the other a handgun, opened the rear-passenger door of the van and demanded money. Police said the courier complied, handing over a delivery bag and the suspects fled the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities have release surveillance photos of the suspects' vehicle, which was last seen speeding southbound on Old York Road.

The Citizens Crime Commission is now administering a $20,000 reward posted by Brinks Inc. for information that leads to the recovery, arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for this crime.

To be eligible for the reward, information must be called in to the Crime Commission Tipline (215-546-TIPS), and caller must receive a code number from the operator.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 215-418-4000 or Abington Township Police at 267-536-1100.
