Commodore Barry Bridge Reopens After Tanker Crash
CHESTER, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
Officials have reopened the Commodore Barry Bridge after a tanker truck crash closed the bridge in both directions for several hours.
Chopper 3 was over the eastbound lanes on the Pennsylvania side of the bridge where a Sunoco tanker flipped at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The driver of the truck reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Both lanes of the bridge were shut down for approximately four hours while hazmat crews worked to clear the scene.
The truck was apparently hauling propane at the time of the crash. Hazmat crews were reportedly called to the scene to deal with a small diesel spill.
Officials reopened both lanes of the bridge at about 4:30 p.m.
A short distance from the crash, an overturned septic truck shut down the ramp from northbound Route 322 to I-295. Further details were not immediately available.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
