Cult Pleads 'Not Guilty' In Child Starvation Death

BALTIMORE (AP) ― Five members of an alleged cult have pleaded not guilty to murder charges in connection with the starvation death of a 1-year-old Baltimore boy.

Queen Antoinette, the 40-year-old leader of a group that called itself 1 Mind Ministries, the boy's mother Ria Ramkissoon, Steven Bynum, Marcus Cobbs and Trevia Williams allegedly denied Javon Thompson food and water for two days.

Police alleged in court documents that the defendants stopped feeding Javon, in part because he wouldn't say "Amen" after meals. His remains were found in a suitcase in Philadelphia this spring.

The defendants were arraigned Monday.

State prosecutors say a trial is scheduled for Jan. 28.

Prosecutors say Ramkissoon, Bynum and Cobbs have attorneys, and Williams and Antoinette do not.
