Sea Isle Home Condemned After Partial Collapse

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (CBS3/AP) ― A multi-million dollar home in Sea Isle City has been condemned after a portion collapsed into the water Monday.

Chopper 3 was over a series of homes on 82nd where a bulkhead dropped into the water, damaging multiple properties.

The deck of one home fell into the bay and later washed up on the shoreline.

Police blocked off the area and said the home, with an estimated worth of $2.5 million, will need to be condemned.

Engineers from Gibson Associates joined police and insurance agents at the scene. Residents are worried that a domino effect could bring down several other neighboring homes.

"I guess it's going to be up to the engineers what they decide to do, whether they are going to take the end building down and protect the next couple buildings or try and shore up that property," dock builder Jim Farley said.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
