Weapons, Explosive Materials Found In Del. Home

CLAYMONT, Del. (CBS 3) ― A New Castle County man was arrested after police discovered a cache of weapons and bomb making materials in his home.

Police said 24-year-old Robert Drendall is facing charges of possession of a weapon in a safe school zone, possession of a destructive device and related charges after surrendering to authorities just after 12 p.m. Thursday.

Officers were called to Drendall's home on the 2000 block of Maple Lane in the Claymont Heights community after reports of shots fired.

When police began to surround the home, Drendall quickly exited with his hands up. Investigators determined the "shots fires" were actually from a replica MP5 "air soft" gun.

Officers executed a search warrant of the residence and recovered four homemade potato guns, several realistic "air soft" guns, as well as various knifes and homemade swords.

A flare gun with modified shotgun shells was also found as well as materials that could be used to make bombs.

Drendall was released after posting $1,900 bail and has been ordered to not possess weapons of any kind, including BB guns. Police said he was previously arrested after pointing a gun at two people during a domestic dispute on June 7.
