Del. Police Plan Drunken Driving Checkpoints

Motorists should be on the lookout for drunken driving checkpoints this holiday weekend. Delaware State Police planned checkpoints on Saturday night in Harrington and Smyrna. The checkpoints could go on as late as 3 a.m. Sunday. State Police Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh says there also will be more officers looking for aggressive drivers. Police will have roaming patrols who will catch speeding cars by pacing after them. Other officers will be parked and using radars to monitor speeds.

Former NFL QB Steve McNair Shot To Death In Tenn.

Former star quarterback Steve McNair was shot multiple times, including once in the head, and a pistol was discovered near the body of the 20-year-old woman found dead with him Saturday in a downtown condominium. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a "friend" of McNair's. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Fourth of July festivities got started early Saturday with a parade through old city, just steps away from where the declaration of independence was signed.
