Pinata Record Attempt Delayed In South Philly

Slideshow: More Images From The Event

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The world's largest piñata was supposed to drop 8,000 lbs. of candy on the corner of South Broad and Washington Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Carnival Cruise Lines sponsored the event hoping to break a Guinness World Record in South Philadelphia with a six-story piñata; however the event has been temporarily postponed.

Early reports indicate there was a technical difficulty.

The piñata was to be destroyed by a wrecking ball and the crowd was expected to scramble for candy.

Carnival Cruise Lines' motive was the inspire Philadelphians to have more fun, after an Expedia.com survey said an estimated 51 million Americans do not use all of their vacation days.
