The vice president of a Delaware County youth athletic club is facing charges after allegedly embezzling over $60,000, the District Attorney's office announced Thursday.
Kevin Sang, the 49-year-old vice president of the Norwood Athletic Club, allegedly used a club snack bar to steal cash over a period of five years between 2003 and 2008.
Authorities said Sang was responsible for the buying and selling of food for the snack bar as well as collecting and depositing the funds. Over the five year period, there were no records kept of any sales.
A board member began to question the low profits of the snack bar, leading to an investigation.
"The real loss is to those families, many of whom placed their trust and confidence in people like defendant Kevin Sang," said Delaware County District Attorney Mike Green.
Sang apparently admitted to taking $2,400 for mortgage payments, but the whereabouts remainder of the missing funds is unknown.
The incident marks the second time the Norwood Youth Club had to deal with an embezzlement controversy. In 2002, a board member was arrested for stealing from the club. Sang was then voted in as a replacement.
