Police: Fake Cops Invade Northeast Philly Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Police are searching for three armed suspects who posed as police officers during a home invasion in Northeast Philadelphia.

Authorities say the police impersonators, who were wearing badges around their necks and armed with guns, knocked on a door in the 4700 block of Devereaux Street at about 1:15 a.m. and said they had a warrant.

When the 27-year-old male victim answered the door, the men pushed their way into the home and handcuffed the victim and a 32-year-old female friend in an upstairs bedroom.

Police say the suspects then ransacked the home in search of money, but fled the house without taking anything.

The first suspect is described a black male, 6ft. tall weighing approximately 230 lbs. and bald with a beard. The second suspect is described as a black male believed to be in his 30s, 6 ft. tall, weighing 230 lbs. and was bald with a beard. The third suspect was described a 5'9" tall with short hair and a beard. One of the suspects was in possession of a police scanner.

If you have information on this crime or the suspects you are urged to contact Philadelphia police.
