SEPTA Bus Caught In Deadly Crossfire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A SEPTA bus carrying dozens of passengers was caught in the crossfire of a deadly shooting in North Philadelphia Thursday afternoon.

Police say a 19-year-old male was shot seven times while standing in the 2100 block of Diamond Street at 2 p.m.

The unidentified shooting victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m.

A SEPTA bus traveling on Diamond Street was struck by at least one stray bullet shattering a window. No passengers were wounded. The bus driver drove through the gunfire and stopped the bus near 21st and Dauphin Streets where riders were greeted by police.

Police say the gunman, described as a black male with muscular build who stands approximately 6'2" tall, remains on the loose.
