One local businesswoman is cashing in by providing high-end luxury items for less online.
Linda Lightman of Horsham, Pa. found even consumers with a bit more to spend have been forced to be on a budget these days. Her consignment shop, Linda's Stuff, caters to those searching for the finer things with a lower price tag.
Recently featured in Town & Country magazine, her online store is one of the most popular on eBay. Among the many items featured in her store are a $26,000 alligator skin Hermes handbag and a framed shirt signed by Tiger Woods.
"People are sending us more and people are going online to get bargains. People who otherwise might have walked into Neiman Marcus are now looking to eBay," Lightman said.
Those interested in selling their items online can send them to Linda's Stuff where they will be placed on eBay. If sold for over $1,000, they will get a check for 75 percent of the selling price. Customers will get 65 percent of the selling price for any item sold for under $1,000.
With several dozen items up for auction at one time, Lightman said they have sold everything from shoes to luxury automobiles. Many of her clients are apparently celebrities or those with money who are looking to save a few bucks.
