Lehigh Valley Plastic Surgeon Moonlights As Artist
by Liz Keptner
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
By day, you'll find Dr. Robert Kevitch, busy at work. This Lehigh Valley plastic surgeon is known by patients as one of the best in his craft for the works of art he performs each day, anything from breast re-construction to face lifts.
"I've known since highschool that I wanted to be a plastic surgeon because I felt it was the most artistic of all the surgical specialities," said Kevitch.
But Dr. Kevitch doesn't just create art when he works on patients, you'll also find his artistic ability showcased on canvas. Dr. Kevitch isn't just a surgeon, but an artist.
In his spare time, he replaces the scalpel for a paintbrush and uses bold colors and heavy paints to create impressionistic paintings, something he began doing as a child.
"But it wasn't until I turned 40, that my wife asked me what I wanted for my 40th birthday. So she got me an easel, the first six months were difficult, but after that, it started to click," said Kevitch.
Starting Saturday, September 2nd Dr. Kevitch, along with his partner at Aesthetic Surgery Associates in Allentown, fellow plastic surgeon and artist Dr. John Altobelli, will have their paintings on display at the Banana Factory Art Gallery in Bethlehem through October 15th.
When asked if he could pick which passion he favors most, "My work here is more beneficial and more enjoyable," said Kevitch.
