Man Facing Charges After Death Of Kitten
EATONTOWN, N.J. (AP) ―
A New Jersey man who allegedly killed a kitten by throwing it against a motel room wall has been charged in the animal's death.
Rodney Shivers of Linden was being held at the Monmouth County Jail on $10,000 bail. He was charged with two counts of needlessly killing a living creature and faces up to five years in jail if convicted.
It was not clear what caused the incident involving the 8-week-old kitten named Pooter, who authorities say did not belong to the 18-year-old Shivers. Witnesses said the animal was killed around 3 a.m. Saturday at a motel in Eatontown.
A necropsy will be performed to determine what caused the kitten's death.
