An apparent home invasion suspect was fatally shot by a homeowner in South Philadelphia on November 20.

A suspect was fatally wounded during an apparent home invasion in South Philadelphia Thursday night.
Police were called to the 1900 block of Montrose Street after reports of a break-in just before 10:30 p.m.
Inside the home, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was later pronounced dead.
While the incident remains under investigation, preliminary reports said the homeowner discovered an intruder on the second floor. The two men struggled down to the floor, where the homeowner fired one shot at the suspect, striking him in the chest.
Police said there are no criminal charges against the homeowner at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
