Story Slams: Is Your Story Worth Telling?
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
If everyone has a story,
First Person Arts' Story Slams is the place to tell it.
Held every fourth Tuesday at
Le'Tage, the event gives story tellers the chance to speak their piece ... but only a few get to tell.
"When they arrive, they put their name in a bucket," said Executive Director Vicki Solot.
Names are then chosen at random and participants have five minutes to impress the audience and wow the judges.
"There are two criteria for judging. One is content, one is presentation," explained Solot.
The story has to fit the established theme and must be true. Participants cannot use notes and must deliver their story from memory.
At the end of the night, a set of judges decide the winner, but the audience chooses a winner of their own.
Both videos are then posted on the
First Person Arts website.
The cost is $8 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door. Particpants must be at least twenty-one years of age.
