A Gloucester County man is being credited with saving the life of a neighbor during a late night apartment fire Thursday.
Fire officials said flames erupted in building 'B' in the Monroetown Apartments on North Main Street in Williamstown just after 10 p.m.
A neighbor, identified as 33-year-old Shane Myers, spotted the blaze while walking and began to vocally warn residents inside of the danger. Upon spotting an injured elderly resident, officials said Myers entered the burning building and pulled him towards the front door.
Firefighters soon arrived at the scene and assisted with the rescue.
The elderly victim was flown to Crozier-Chester Medical Center to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Myers suffered burns to his left arm.
All other residents were able to escape the building without injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
