Three people were killed during an explosive five-alarm house fire in Burlington County early Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Marie Drive in Browns Mills after reports of the blaze at about 1 a.m.
It took crews just under two hours to get the flames under control. Killed in the blaze were 74-year-old son Young Boo Lee and his 67-year-old wife, Tasuk Lee and his mother, 92-year-old Myo Sun Lee.
Neighbors reported hearing several explosions during the massive fire that destroyed most of the home. Authorities are trying to determine if the cause of the fire is indeed a criminal matter.
"There's nothing that I'm aware of at this point that would lead us to believe the fire is suspicious, but that's what our investigation will determine," William Kramer of the New Jersey Fire Marshal's Office said.
Neighbors said the family moved into the home in the late '70s and were highly respected in the Korean community. The Lee's raised three children in the home and were enjoying their retirement from the grocery business.
State and County Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
