Delaware Trooper Injured In I-95 Collision

WILMINGTON (CBS 3) ― A Delaware State Police Trooper was injured after a crash on I-95 early Friday morning.

Police said the Trooper was stopped in a construction zone on southbound I-95 near Naamans Road when his cruiser was rear ended at about 4 a.m.

The driver of a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle, a 69-year-old from Philadelphia, was driving through the construction zone when he apparently swerved to avoid a pickup truck in front of him.

Authorities said the Volkswagen traveled into the closed left lane, striking the back of the Trooper's vehicle.

Both the Trooper and the driver were treated and released for minor injuries.

The driver was cited with failure to obey a traffic control device.
