Police in Delaware rescued a deer that was struck by a car and then became stuck in the front bumper. A man was later arrested for firing a shot at the deer as police released the animal back into its natural habitat.
Authorities say the incident unfolded at about 9 p.m. Saturday on Route 9 near Rogers Manor when the deer was struck by car.
New Castle City Police and the Delaware SPCA tranquilized the deer that was still alive and removed it from the front of the car. The deer was not injured and was released back into the wild.
Police say while they were releasing the deer, a man, identified as Victor Bryson, 31, pulled up in a white SUV and fired a shot at the animal.
Authorities say police thought they were being shot at and arrested Bryson.
Bryson was charged with two counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree, 2 counts of Possession of a Firearm By Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited and Driving with a Suspended License.
He is being held at the Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $34,000.00 secured bond pending a preliminary hearing.
