Avalon Beach Replenishment Coming To An End
AVALON (CBS 3) ―
Workers are nearly finished a major beach replenishment project in Avalon.
Crews have been moving nearly 200,000 tons of sand to the North End of Avalon between 9th and 18th Streets for the past two months.
The project is expected to end Thursday, bringing relief to community residents and visitors to the popular shore town. Noise from dump trucks coming and going into the area has led to numerous complaints.
Many residents say the project has also left some road damage.
The Avalon replenishment was separate from a state and municipally funded dredging project to pump sand onto beaches in Upper Township, Sea Isle City and North Wildwood.
