Police ID Woman Fatally Shot On Wilmington Street
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) ―
Wilmington police say a 27-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head when she was caught in the middle of a gunfight on a city street.
Police say Annabelle Ramirez-Sanchez of Wilmington had just gotten out of her car in the 400 block of South Van Buren Street around 4 p.m. Monday when she was caught in the crossfire.
Police say Ramirez-Sanchez died at the scene. Her 2-year-old child was still inside the car and wasn't injured.
Police are searching for the two men who were shooting at each other.
Wilmington City Councilman Kevin Kelley Sr., who was at the scene of the investigation, says it may be time to change gun laws. Kelley, who has seen a rash of shootings around his district, says anyone arrested for a gun crime should stay in jail until they are tried.
