South Jersey Soldier Receives Joyous Homecoming

EVESHAM, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Just in time for the holiday weekend, a soldier from South Jersey was welcomed back from Iraq with open arms on Wednesday.

Sgt. Brian McGory walked off an airplane at Philadelphia International Airport Wednesday morning and into a soldier's dream come true.

After serving a year in Iraq, the army reservist was finally home with his wife Carmen and their two young daughters.

In addition to his loving family, members of Warriors' Watch also welcomed Sgt. McGory back to the states. Warriors' Watch consists of veterans who know the importance of a homecoming, something many of them did not receive.

"They're leaving their jobs, they're leaving their families and they are taking off for a year, when they come back, they deserve everything we can give them," Ronald Croce.

A motorcycle and police escort led Sgt. McGory and his family back to their Evesham Township home where they were met by neighbors and friends.

"I'm not the hero, the heroes will be any of those individuals who unfortunately have lost their lives," Sgt. McGory said. "My wife is the hero with everything she had to do."
