Fallen Officer Remembered At Flyers Game

PHILADELPHIA (CBS3/AP) ― A pregame moment of silence was held at the Flyers game Tuesday evening for Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski, a Flyers fan and member of the Philadelphia police force, who was killed last week in the line of duty.

Sgt. Liczbinski was fatally gunned down during a confrontation with bank robbery suspects in Port Richmond on May 3.

Funeral services were held for Sgt. Liczbinski on May 9 and a "Let's Go Flyers" chant was led by his son during his funeral mass.

Along with the sold-out crowd, the Flyers players stood and applauded as Sgt. Liczbinski was remembered Tuesday evening.

"It brought tears to my eyes, I was speechless, words can't express how I felt," fan Mike Anastasio said.

Sgt. Liczbinski's family attended the game and sat inside Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter's private box.

Sgt. Liczbinski's wife, Michelle, released a statement that read in part: "Stephen loved the Flyers, they were a part of his family, we will never forget tonight, thank you and God Bless."
