Biden Bids Farewell To Friends In Delaware

WILMINGTON (CBS 3) ― Senator Joe Biden is making his way to Denver for the convention, but not before he bids farewell to his friends in Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden was greeted by dozens of cameras, a pack of supporters and secret service agents as he arrived at Wilmington AMTRAK station Monday.

It was a coordinated photo opportunity by the Obama campaign to show off Biden as the regular guy who takes the train to and from work everyday.

Bobby Jones, who runs a shoeshine business at the station, was on hand and he and Biden became friendly after the Senator gave his son a recommendation for the Naval Academy.

"A decent ordinary guy that happens to be a Senator from Delaware," said Jones.

Biden didn't take the train to Denver, but he and his family did hop on a private jet at the New Castle County airport.

Biden arrived in Denver for the Democratic National Convention in the afternoon.
