Former Sands Parking Garage Imploded

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS 3) ― Demolition crews imploded the former Sands Casino parking garage in Atlantic City early Thursday morning.

The concrete building standing nine-stories tall on the corner of Kentucky and Pacific Avenues came down at 7 a.m. Thursday.

The streets were closed from Boardwalk to Atlantic Avenue and from the sidewalks of New York Avenue to the sidewalks of Indiana Avenue, but that didn't keep some onlookers from gawking as the cloud of dust rolled through the city.

The implosion was part of an ongoing demolition project for Pinnacle Atlantic City, as it makes way for the development of a multi-billion-dollar mega-resort.
