SEPTA Strike Day 2
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
It is day two of the SEPTA strike and with no negotiations scheduled, commuters hit the roads and rails early to beat the heavy morning rush hour.
At 6 a.m., with Philadelphia's subway trains, buses and trolley service halted, traffic along the major highways was heavier than usual and there were more people in line to catch a ride on Regional Rail.
According to SEPTA, 101 and 102 trolley service was halted Wednesday morning because of TWU Local 234 picketers at the Victory Garage. Suburban buses were also operating "sporadically" with only one bus able to leave the garage every 30 to 45 minutes.
CBS 3 say they feel like they are "held hostage."
SEPTA spokesman Richard Maloney says it is time for a "cooling off period."
Maloney says they need to get back to the bargaining table.
