Cab Driver's Ear Lobe Bitten Off During Robbery
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Police have arrested a man who they said robbed a cab
driver and bit part of his ear off during an assault Saturday morning.
It happened at about 5:30 a.m. along the 3800 block of North Broad Street in Philadelphia's
Hunting Park section.
According to authorities, 47-year-old Kenneth Williams entered the Quaker City
cab and asked for a ride. Then Williams demanded money from the driver, William
Milburn, and threatened to kill him if he didn't cooperate.
Williams bit off a chunk of the driver's ear, pushed him
out of the car and sped off before crashing the taxi into an SUV a block away
at Broad and Pike Streets.
"He said give me your money and get me out of here before
I kill you," said, Milburn.
The suspect fled but police were able to catch up to him, apprehending the man
while recovering a knife and more than 180 dollars.
The 59-year-old victim was taken to Temple University
Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Milburn received stitches on his left ear lobe and had several scrapes and
bruises.
Officials said the part of his ear that was bitten off
likely may not be reattached.
"I got a message for him. He's not going to be getting
away from this," said Milburn.
