Northeast Philly Postal Workers Hit $20M Jackpot
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Instead of delivering good news to others, some local postal service employees are getting it themselves. The group hit a $20 million Powerball Jackpot.
A group of 22 workers at the United State Postal Bulk Mail Center in Northeast Philadelphia hit the jackpot.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Lansdowne Diner in Delaware County.
"We feel comfortable, we feel good, we did something good to somebody," Pete Arsenlis of the diner said.
The winners reportedly headed to Harrisburg on Tuesday to cash the winning ticket and split the lump sum payout.
"They left at lunch, lot of congratulations, hugs and kisses and everybody was kind of waving them off and wishing them luck," Marquis said.
The group reportedly pooled their lottery money for years until they hit the big one this past weekend.
"Some of them are what we call mail-handlers and clerks, there is one supervisor, they all worked in the same area," Joseph Marquis of the United States Postal Service said.
The fortunate workers can cash in a pre-tax lump sum payment of $10.28 million dollars.
