Pontiff Plans To Worship With Tri-State Area Youth

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Many New York City-area Catholics are looking forward to Pope Benedict XVI's visit to America. He'll be here in mid-April and will spend three days in New York. The focus of his visit will be young people.

The pope will arrive in New York on April 18, following a three-day visit to Washington D.C. He will address the United Nations and participate in an Ecumenical Service at a New York parish.

On April 19, the Pontiff will hold a morning Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, then visit Saint Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers to participate in a youth event.

Pope Benedict XVI will visit Ground Zero on April 20, as well as celebrate Mass in Yankee Stadium.

- Morning Diplomatic Reception at the White House
- Afternoon Meeting with the Bishops of the United States at the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

Thursday, April 17, 2008
- Morning Public Mass at the Washington Nationals Stadium
- Afternoon Meeting with presidents of Catholic universities and diocesan heads of education at the Catholic University of America
- Afternoon Meeting with representatives of other religions at the John Paul II Cultural Center

Friday, April 18, 2008
- Morning Departure Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
- Morning Airport Arrival Ceremony in New York City
- Morning Speech to the United Nations General Assembly
- Visit to Park East Synagogue In Manhattan
- Afternoon Address to Ecumenical Persons at the Church of Saint Joseph, in the Yorkville section of Manhattan

Saturday, April 19, 2008
- Morning Solemn Pontifical Mass for Priests, Deacons and Religious at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick. This Mass will Celebrate the Third Anniversary of the Holy Father's Election to the Papacy.
- Afternoon Meeting with Disabled Children at the St. Joseph's Seminary Chapel.
- Afternoon Meeting with Youth and Seminarians on the grounds of the St. Joseph's. Seminary.

Sunday, April 20, 2008
- Morning Visit to Ground Zero at the World Trade Center Site.
- Afternoon Public Solemn Pontifical Mass at Yankee Stadium.
