Pit Bulls Rescued From North Philadelphia Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The Pennsylvania SPCA is trying to determine the fate of three Pit Bulls used for dog fighting that were rescued from a home in North Philadelphia.

A tip call led authorities to the home in the 3100 block of West Clifford Street Wednesday.

One of dogs had severe injuries, including numerous scars and bite marks on his ears and head as well as a fractured leg. Two other Pit Bulls found in the home did not require immediate medical attention, but they had suffered severe neglect.

"These animals have been left there for apparently two weeks. They were without food, water; the yard was in real terrible condition…unsanitary," George Bengal of the PSPCA said.

The owner of the dogs is facing animal cruelty charges. Sources said the owner is also sought by police for an unrelated drug case. The location of the owner is currently unknown.

Officials from the PSPCA will monitor the dog's behavior in the coming days to see if they can be put up for adoption. If they are unable to be adopted, officials said they will have to be euthanized.
