Phils Numerology: Countin' On A Win

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― As the Fightin' Phils prepare to go head to head with the Tampa Bay Rays in game 3 and 4 of the world series this weekend, Phillies fans everywhere are hoping ... and perhaps expecting victory.

But, when it comes to the numbers, is victory in the cards?

CBS3.com Digital Journalist Nicole Brewer spoke with 'Clairvoyant Monica' of Manayunk to see if Phillies numerology means fans can count on a win!

"The numbers really look good and based on my analysis, the Phillies have a lot of positive energy moving toward the win," said Monica.

Based on the belief that there is a mystical relationship between numbers and physical objects or living things, numerology reveals the so-called meaning of numbers.

When it comes to Phils numerology, inverse numbers play a major role.

"The last world series win was in 1980 and now we're in '08, which is a really good thing because that represents the number ten. Ten represents a re-birth or renewal. So, I think we're getting re-born for more wins," explained Monica.

Another inverse relationship? Phils "closer" Brad Lidge wears number forty-five, which is the inverse of fifty-four worn by fellow Phillie Tug McGraw who struck out the Royals' Willie Wilson to end the 1980 World Series.

Of course, there is some method to Monica's madness and it comes down to simple math.

"It's been twenty-eight years since the last world series win and since I can't work with double numbers, I have to break it down further. So, I take 2 + 8 and get ten, which as we know represents re-birth and perfection," explained Monica.

Looking forward, Monica uses her numerology book to predict wins for Game 3 and 5, but says she can't say the same for Game 4.

"October 26th says you might have to sacrifice to move forward, which means you might have to lose to win," explained Monica.

Let's just hope our wins outweigh our losses.

GO PHILLIES!!!
