Phillies 'Paint The Town Red'

Kicking Off "Paint The Town Red Week"

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The Philadelphia Phillies are searching for city residents willing to "Step Up To The Plate" during a rally at City Hall Monday.

The Philadelphia Phillies were joined by Mayor Michael Nutter, former Phil Gary Maddox and many more as they kicked off "Paint the Town Red Week" at noon.

During the noontime event, Mayor Nutter took part in turning the Phanatic red for the week for the week long celebration leading up until opening day game against the Washington Nationals.

This year, the Phillies are urging fans to reach out to their communities and volunteer.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for the Phillies to give back, not only to the baseball fans, but to the city of Philadelphia," said Scott Palmer, the Phillies' director of pubic affairs.

Those who "Step Up To The Plate" will be given access to special ticket discounts that help Greater Philadelphia Cares.
