Bear Sightings Have Bucks Co. Residents On Alert

PERKASIE, Pa. (CBS 3) ― The Perkasie Police department is on high alert after receiving numerous calls from Borough residents who have reportedly seen a bear in the area.

Police say there have been eight bear sightings by residents in the Bucks County neighborhood, but no reports of damage or harm to humans at this point.

The first sighting was reported at about 7 a.m. and the latest sighting was reported Sunday night.

A resident tells CBS 3 the sightings have occurred near Shadywood Drive. The animal reportedly came within feet of some children playing outside.

According to police, the game commission will not step in until the bear tries to hurt someone or damages property.
