Garbage Truck Accident Closes Rt. 202

WHITELAND, Penn. (CBS 3) ―

An auto accident in West Whiteland Township involving a garbage truck has shut down northbound traffic on Route 202 just before Route 3.

Chester County medical evacuation units responded to the scene of the accident at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

According to authorities the driver lost control of the truck and it veered off the motorway into the nearby woods. The truck then caught fire, trapping the driver inside. There is not word yet on the driver's condition.

The north bound lanes of Route 202 remains closed as rescue units work to clean the area.
