Officer Injured In West Deptford Crash

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS 3) ―

A three car accident involving a police cruiser on Interstate 295 in West Deptford, sent three people to the hospital.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning near exit 21 in Woodbury. The West Deptford police officer involved in the wreck was knocked unconscious and trapped in his vehicle until he could be cut out by rescue crews; his name has yet to be released.

The two other victims involved were taken by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, along with the officer who was treated with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Officials are blaming wet road conditions for the accident as it was raining at the time.
