N.J. Senator Fights For Sports Gambling In A.C.

TRENTON (AP) ―

A New Jersey senator vows to fight to overturn federal law limiting legalized sports gambling.

Sen. Raymond Lesniak says he's asked Gov. Jon S. Corzine's administration to file suit declaring the federal law an interstate commerce violation.

If Corzine doesn't take action, Lesniak vows to file a lawsuit himself to challenge the law that limits legalized sports betting to Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon.

Lesniak is a Union County Democrat who heads a major law firm.

New Jersey is looking to bring legalized betting on professional sports to Atlantic City casinos and three horse racing tracks.

Only Nevada enables betting on professional and college games.
