Pa. 911 Worker Fired After Risque Holiday Party

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS 3) ― A Montgomery County 911 dispatch supervisor has been fired following a risqué holiday party.

While on duty, the supervisor and other dispatchers were reportedly exchanging gifts that included adult toys, alcohol, and racy pictures.

The party occurred at the district's 911 dispatch center in Eagleville on December 22 and several call-takers are facing disciplinary action.

"It's incredibly poor judgment and it calls into question the public's confidence in their public safety system and that's appalling," Montgomery County communications director John Corcoran said.

Corcoran said on Tuesday word spread that the racy pictures were circulating on the internet and were possibly posted on an employee's MySpace page. A total of six employees posed in the pictures.

Corcoran said that the two bottles of liquor were never open.

"They're all very consistent on that point that there was no alcohol consumed not that night and not any other night in the OC," Corcoran said.

A total of 16 employees were on-duty during the overnight shift when the party took place. Several of them are facing disciplinary action, but the county is not releasing their names.

The shift supervisor, identified by sources as Sean Brown, was fired.

Under county regulations, alcohol is not allowed in any county facility.

"It was just very poor judgment to not only allow this to occur, but to participate and participate to the extent that he did," Corcoran said.

County officials said they reviewed every 911 phone call that came into the center that night to ensure they were properly handled.
