A man that police had wanted to interview as a person of interest in the strange disappearance of a South Jersey woman, has come forward.
Authorities said that the man was cooperative and was interviewed early Friday morning at Eveshame Police Department.
Investigators say there is still no sign of what happened to Marianne Demartin, a Marlton woman who mysteriously disappeared over two weeks ago.
"Every day is worse than the day before," said DeMartin's mother.
Marianne DeMartin, 52, was last seen and heard from at approximately 7 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2005. Her car, a black, 2001, Ford Mustang convertible was also unaccounted for.
Thursday, Evesham Township police stated surveillance photos show a man who near DeMartin's vehicle behind a Wawa in the Avian Shopping center.
Police released photos of another man inside the store, in hopes he can provide some clues in this mystery. They say he is not a suspect in DeMartin's disappearance.
"This man is a possible witness, we don't know what he has to offer," stated Captain Jeff Gural of Evesham Township police. "He was in the Wawa during the same time period that the man was seen, on the video, at the victim's car in the rear of the Avian Plaza.
Her family has been awaiting any new information, but police have been unable to uncover any clue leading them to DeMartin's whereabouts.
Officials found her black Ford Mustang in the Avian Plaza shopping center in Voorhees on September 30th, but there was no sign of the 52-year-old Marlton woman. Police removed two dumpsters from the shopping center hoping they would find some clue to DeMartin's location.
"A resident of Voorhees had called in that the vehicle that we were looking for, a 2001 Mustang, was located in the rear of the shopping center of Evesham Road," said Captain Jeff Gural of the Evesham Twp. Police.
Gural added that the car was in good condition, saying, "There's no obvious damage done to it at this point that we could tell, again, it's being processed at this point and it's all part of evidence. It appeared to be locked and parked and there were no keys that we could find."
Footage from surveillance cameras in the area is being enhanced by detectives in search of a lead in DeMartin's disappearance.
"This is very baffling at this point, we're just trying to make some sense of it
any information is going to help at this point," stated Capt. Gural.
According to police, DeMartin was scheduled to leave for Paris, France with her mother and did not arrive to catch her flight.
DeMartin's relatives say she is extremely dedicated to her job working as a regional manager for White House Black Market Stores and it is unlike her to take off without contacting her family or employer.
DeMartin's mother is distraught by her daughter's disappearance.
"It's like the worst thing you could imagine, you have no idea," said Marianne DeMartin.
Evesham Police are puzzled by DeMartin's disappearance, saying she left behind her purse containing credit cards, cash, and her identification. DeMartin even abandoned her beloved pet, which officials say is extremely odd.
"Her dog, by all accounts she would have taken care of, she would have made sure that that dog was taken care of," described Capt. Gural.
Investigators say DeMartin was known to spend some time in Atlantic City on the weekends. At least one casino is checking their surveillance cameras from to see if she stopped there at all since Friday.
Marianne DeMartin is described as a white female, 5'6", 125 lbs., with blond hair and blue eyes.
