Man, 40, Shot In Robbery Attempt

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) ― New Castle County police say a man was shot during a robbery attempt in the parking lot of an apartment complex early Sunday morning.

The 40-year-old victim was visiting relatives at the Scotch Hills Apartments in the New Castle area. Police say he was walking in the parking lot shortly before 3 a.m. when a man approached and asked for money.

The victim tried to ignore the man and got into his car. The robber walked to the car and pointed a handgun at the victim, then fired several shots as the victim tried to drive away.

The victim was shot in the arm. He drove to a nearby 7-11 store, where a customer called 911.
