Laptops Donated To Wireless Philadelphia Program
PHILADELPHIA (AP) ―
A pharmaceutical company is joining Wireless Philadelphia in donating
hundreds of used laptops to community organizations.
Shire Pharmaceuticals of Chesterbrook and Wayne is giving
400 laptop computers to Wireless Philadelphia. That organization will bundle
the compuers with Internet access, tech support and training programs and then
donate them to several community organizations.
Shire president and CEO Matthew Emmens says the laptops
are something of value that people can use.
Donavan West is director of Social Services for People to
People Inc. He says several of the computers will go to the organization's EARN
Center to help people on public assistance with job development and placement
in training programs.
