Gloucester Twp. Fire Leaves Dozens In The Cold

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Dozens of families were left homeless after a fire in Camden County Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters rushed to the Lakeview Apartments in Gloucester Township just after 2 p.m. It took them an hour to battle the flames that engulfed 12 units.

Those units sustained heavy damage.

The Camden County Fire Marshal said the building's fire walls helped to keep it under control.

"It is compartmentalized. It was held within the apartments between the fire walls. The departments were able to control it right there," Camden County Fire Marshall Paul Hartstein said.

No one was hurt but firefighters rescued several pets at the complex and they were brought to the Camden Animal Shelter so they could be reunited with their owners.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
