Rescue crews were able to save a worker in Merchantville, New Jersey Monday morning after he was shocked by a power line.
The worker was trimming trees on Chapel Avenue when he was injured around 10:30 a.m.
The injured worker has been identified as Tim Williams, who is the father of eight children, and he is considered a lucky man today despite the circumstances.
"First it was the explosion, such a loud explosion," said Merchantville resident, William DeGregory, who saw the aftermath of the accident.
According to reports, a large rope knocked down an electrical wire, sending a current through the branch Williams was trimming.
"He screamed out a little bit and then he collapsed. It looked like he passed out," said DeGregory.
Williams was left hanging from the tree by a rope tied to his abdomen before a co-worker sprung to action.
"I jumped the fence, got up the ladder and tried to hold him as tight as I could," said John Ritali.
Remarkably, Williams regained consciousness, but it took nearly 40 minutes for the power lines to become de-energized, so the paramedics could bring him down.
The current reportedly went through his body, but did not hit any vital organs.
Williams suffered some minor burns during the harrowing ordeal and is listed in stable condition. He was initially taken to Cooper University Hospital, but was transferred to Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
