Warminster Family Keeps Gator In Bathtub

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS 3) ―

A Bucks County family has a new roommate with a bit of a temper and one heck of a bite.

When a Warminster resident spotted a 30-inch alligator on her property, she knew exactly who to call: Buddy Mullen, Chief of the Public Works Department.

"I had an alligator when I was little, so I knew how to handle the smaller one, the bigger ones were still touchy," said Mullen.

The gator on the run now resides in the basement bathtub in Mullen's home, but it isn't the first time they've had dangerous reptiles in their homes.

"I think we're kind of getting used to it. This is the third one in one year and it's the smallest out of the three. We've had a 5-footer and a 3-footer," said Mullen.

Mullen believes the alligators he caught of the past year are discarded pets by people who couldn't handle taking care of an exotic animal.

The alligator will be taking to a teaching zoo in Warwick on Thursday.
