Firefighters Battle Gloucester Co. Wildfire

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS 3) ― As a major forest fire continued to scorch part of South Jersey, firefighters were called out to battle another wildfire Thursday afternoon.

Flames broke out at about 3:00 p.m. near the Black Horse Pike in Monroe Township, Gloucester County.

Firefighters quickly placed the blaze under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Also, a massive fire that sparked in South Jersey earlier this week has officially been placed under control.

Flames destroyed nearly 2,000 acres of Wharton State Forest since the blaze broke out Tuesday.

The flames spread over a remote area spanning parts of Camden, Burlington and Atlantic Counties.
